How to care for an injured nail?

well i had a dead nail before and well i notice that it was already half removed but the other half was still kinda stick in da nail bed....so my uncle suggested(his a dr.) to just removed i after we removed it which kinda hurt LOL, there still a black spot remained, and it the front part bled a lot....i was wondering how long does it take for it to recover? like a week time maybe?How to care for an injured nail?
