How do I take care of finger with no nail?

My sons nail came off completly 100% clean. It looks kinda nasty and juicy under there and I was wondering is there anything else besides peroxide and a band aid I should be doing? How do I take care of finger with no nail?
Wash with warm water and a disinfectant soap such as Betadine; disinfect with alcohol; then apply Neosporin ointment and bandage. After a few days the nail bed will dry up to a smooth reddish surface, and you can discontinue the disinfectant and ointment. Your son will probably want to keep a bandage on it for a while though, just to protect it, because the exposed nail bed is very sensitive. How do I take care of finger with no nail?
The same thing happened with me, when i was younger. My sister jammed my finger in the door and it went purple and fell off , not suddenly but after a day or so it fell off completely. I did nothing i just was careful with it and it grew back in fine.

So i'd just make sure he keeps it clean and it should be fine.

But if your worried about it , take him to the doctors. :D

What are the importance of foot and toe nail care for a person with diabetes?

If you don't take good care of your foot, and toe nails, you stand a greater chance for infections. Infections are hard to control in a diabetic person. It might become necessary to amputate to control the infection.

Also, a diabetic may suffer from peripheral neuropathy, making him less sensitive to pain in the extremities (feet). Peripheral neuropathy may also cause muscle weakness and loss of reflexes, especially at the ankle, leading to changes in the way a person walks. Foot deformities, such as hammertoes and the collapse of the midfoot, may occur. Blisters and sores may appear on numb areas of the foot because pressure or injury goes unnoticed. If foot injuries are not treated promptly, the infection may spread to the bone, and the foot may then have to be amputated. Some experts estimate that half of all such amputations are preventable if minor problems are caught and treated in time. What are the importance of foot and toe nail care for a person with diabetes?
I agree with most of the people who answered your question but they forgot to mention about the importance of using the right products

you want to take care of you feet to minimize the risk of infection and other complicationsWhat are the importance of foot and toe nail care for a person with diabetes?
Foot care is extremely important for a diabetic. I've had type 1 diabetes now for 30 years.

In order to keep your feet in excellent condition and free of any injuries, chafing or dryness, there are a few things which you can do each day to have healthy feet and therefore optimal health. First, ensure that your feet are washed well and moisturized every day. Doing so will prevent your feet from cracking and getting cuts due to dryness. You should also check your feet each day to ensure that they are free of cuts, swelling and blisters. If you do happen to find any of these things on your feet, let your doctor know right away so that you can prevent further injury from occurring. Another thing which you should do on a continual basis is to trim your toenails. By keeping the toenails neat and trim, it will be less likely that cuts and cracks will occur on the feet.

    - Wear Sensible Shoes

    - Keep Your Feet At A Neutral Temperature

    - Reasonable Amount Of Blood Flow To The Feet

    - Consult Your Doctor For Foot Care Tips Directly Targeting Your Needs

I hope this helps and good luck.
People with diabetes have reduced feeling in their feet. It can be so bad they are unaware of cuts or infections which would be painful to anybody else.

By caring for their feet and toenails, they are minimizing the risk of infection and also inspecting their feet for injury.

Packing list for vacation? Travel skin, hair, and nail care?

Hi! I'm going on an Alaskan cruise (7 days) soon and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for a fashionable teenage girl to bring. I have a general idea of what to pack (formal outfits, active wear, etc.) but are there any cute things in paticular that I should bring? Also any skin care or hair and nail tips for traveling would be nice. Thanks you guys! I hope you answer this!

BTW I'm not into A%26amp;F, AE, Hollister, Aeropostale and stores like that. Thanks!Packing list for vacation? Travel skin, hair, and nail care?
Definitely bring some St. Ives invigorating apricot scrub! It smells amazing and works wonders! Bring a great moisturizer too, preferrably with SPF in it. Wash your face often because the salt content in the air might irritate your skin. If you use hair products bring some of those too but I suggest ditching the hair dryer and curling iron and all that. You want to look good but you don't want to spend all day in your room getting ready!

Bring cute clothes of course! Bring a cute outfit for at night if you want to go dancing. Bring a bikini or other type of swim suit. Bring some flats, flip flips, regular tennis shoes..... accesories, lots of those! Perfume! Sunglasses.

I'm so excited for you! Haha. Have a great trip.Packing list for vacation? Travel skin, hair, and nail care?

How often do US women go to nail shops ? How often do they take care of their nails at home ?

Personally I don't get manicures or fake nails. I trim and care for my nails one to two times a week but I don't do anything fancy. I only do nail polish on special occasions. However I have a lot of friends that go get their nails done a couple of times a month. How often do US women go to nail shops ? How often do they take care of their nails at home ?
if you have fake nails you need fills every 3 weeks . if you have manicure's every two weeks will do. In between times you can get polish changes . I find it takes time but when you have bad nails you may have to go to a salon for help. nail salons are not expensive as a full service salon . How often do US women go to nail shops ? How often do they take care of their nails at home ?
I've only been to a nail salon once...to get my nails done for Homecoming. I can do my nails just as well as they can, and it's tons cheaper. I will however get my nails done for my wedding. I do my nails every 3 days or so usually at home.
I don't go to the nail salon, it's too expensive. Instead I buy the things that come with 500 tips, at $5.00 a package I find them to be really great!

Once a week I take them off and re-do my nails. =]
the only reason i would get my nails done by someone else is if im going to be in someones wedding and they all get there nails done, i always do my own nails
    1once a week ,why when i don't have to?
    Once a year. =))

How to take care of a toe nail wound on a dog?

I bought a boxer named Rocky yesterday. He got scared last week at his previous owners house and tried to jump out of the cage. In the process of doing that, he riped his toe nail out. Now that I own him I want to give him his proper treatment and care. Does any has suggestions on how to take care of his paw? Oh yeah and what makes him stop farting? He's killing us, and if he doesn't stop we're going to need gas mask. LOLHow to take care of a toe nail wound on a dog?
If the nail isn't hot, red and infected just leave it alone. It might never grow back in.How to take care of a toe nail wound on a dog?
Injured animals should see a vet. Most people take a new household addition to the vet right away anyway.
Wash it with bedadine and put some Neosporin on the missing nail bed and wrap up his paw to avoid it getting dirty. Keep an eye on it to make sure the site does not get infected. If it appears red, swollen or extremley tender he may need antibiotics. It may be a good idea anyways to take him to the vet to get a shot of anitbiotics to avoid infection. As for the farting ... you may want to look into changing his diet maybe something with less fiber. What does he eat now? Just remember when changing a diet it must be introduced slowly. First feed the dog 3\4 of the old dog food and 1\4 new dog food. Do this for a couple of days and then do 1\2 old and 1\2 new. Gradually introduce the new food to avoid stomach problems.
iv 2 greys and my male caught his nail and ripped it out on the washing basket while shooting across the kitchen and we bathed it in saline (you get sachets from the chemist for bout 50p each)he never complained and we were able to clean it and touch it and thats why id recommend the saline put aa sachet in a bowl and clean the wound using cotton wool ..we had to do this for about a week and now e is as good as new..re:farting ,try him on charcoal tabs you can get them from health food shops best of luck xx

Where can a RN acquire her certification in diabetic foot/nail care and what are the options in WNC?

RN's can take a course which will give them the credentials of CDE, which is a certified diabetes educator, contact the American Dietetic Association for information on where the nearest schools are located near you.

What do Americans annually spend on nail care?

Because of the amount of time spent on the computer, I usually do not mess much with manicures, so the only tools I use there are clippers and files, about $5.00 for both of them. But I do like to splurge on pedicures, especially in the summer! Those run about $20 a pop.
