One of my turtles has long nail, how do you take care turtles nails ???

Water turtle nails do not need to be cut... in fact male turtles (sliders, cooters, maps) have really long front nails, twice the length and it is a sexual trait of males for these species. The males of these species wave the front fore claws at the females in a mating dance to entice them to mate. They also do this as a sign of dominance or just for fun.

DO NOT CUT THEIR NAILS, if they areb water turtles. Their nails may chip or break, they will grow back.

One more thing... you may cut box turtle nails b/c the need to be shorter. Often this can be avoided by having substrate where they can dig and also rocks where they can climb to wear it down. Usually land turtles like box turtle or tortoises do not need their nails trimmed if they are provided sufficient substrate.

In special circumstances, abused boxies, their nails impede their walking, you may cut them with cat clippers, but do not cut too deep or else it will cause bleeding. If you hold the nail to the light you can see the veins, cut above that. One of my turtles has long nail, how do you take care turtles nails ???
absolutely not, a turtle's nails are not to be cut, because they will get an infection. I know for a fact, because I used to work in a zoo and I took care of turtles. One of my turtles has long nail, how do you take care turtles nails ???
a clipper that's used for trimming cat claws is the best thing to use, but be VERY careful not to cut their blood vessel. trim a teeny bit at a time.
Clippers for a dog or a cat. There is a spot, you can see it if you look close enough, cut there. Oh, and get some quick stop, that way, if you do quick him, you can dip it in the (yellow) powder and it will stop bleeding instantly.:)
you shound go to the vet and check if they can clip them
get a nail clipper and cut the nails but try not to make it hurt so bad.
